Spring Cleanups

Our spring cleanups cover the work that resets a landscape after winter: full debris and leaf removal from lawn and beds, cutback of perennials and ornamental grasses left standing for winter interest, light pruning of dead or damaged branches, a fresh trench edge along all bed lines, and a clean bed prep ready for mulch. We can bundle mulch installation, sprinkler startup, and seasonal color planting into the same visit so the property is fully reset in one mobilization.

Spring cleanups typically run mid-March through late April, once the ground has thawed and dried enough to work without compacting wet soil. The exact window shifts year to year — a cold, late spring can push the start into early April, while a mild March can start us earlier. We watch soil conditions and aim to start once turf is no longer mushy underfoot. Booking early in winter or early March gives you the best slot in the rotation.

For most properties, yes — and not just for appearances. Matted leaf debris smothers turf and invites snow mold, dead perennial stalks become disease vectors if left into the growing season, and bed lines that go uncut for two springs in a row are noticeably harder to reclaim. A proper cleanup also flags winter damage early — broken branches, heaved pavers, irrigation issues, or animal damage — so it gets fixed before it becomes a bigger project later in the season.
