Shrub Trimming
Shrubs form the foundation of a well-designed landscape, but without proper care, they can quickly lose their shape, vitality, and appeal.

Tailored Care for Every Shrub and Hedge
Regular shrub trimming is essential for maintaining both the health and the aesthetic value of your plants. Without careful pruning, shrubs can become overgrown, uneven, and vulnerable to disease.
Sculpting Stronger, Healthier Landscapes
Professional trimming shapes your landscape, promotes new, vibrant growth, and ensures your plants stay strong against pests and harsh weather.
Encourages Healthy Growth
Strategic trimming stimulates fuller, denser growth by allowing light and air to reach the inner branches improving the overall health of the plant.
Prevents Disease and Pest Problems
Removing dead, damaged, or overcrowded branches reduces the risk of fungal infections, infestations, and other plant health issues.
Enhances Curb Appeal and Structure
Well-trimmed shrubs frame your home, walkways, and garden beds giving your property a clean, intentional, and welcoming appearance.

Common Questions
Find answers to common questions about our landscaping services and process.
Timing depends on what the shrub is. Spring-flowering shrubs like lilac, forsythia, and viburnum bloom on the previous year's growth and should be pruned within about two weeks after they finish flowering — prune later and you cut off next year's blooms. Summer-flowering shrubs like panicle hydrangea and most roses bloom on new growth and are pruned in late winter or early spring while dormant. Evergreens like yew and juniper are typically pruned in March or April before new growth pushes.
Most established shrubs benefit from one structural pruning per year, timed to bloom cycle, plus a light shaping pass mid-season if needed. Fast-growing hedges may need two to three shapings per year to hold a clean line. We avoid late-summer pruning on deciduous shrubs because it triggers tender new growth that does not harden off before our first frost, leading to dieback. Dead, diseased, or damaged wood can be removed any time of year.
Pruning at the right time and with proper cuts is one of the best things you can do for shrub health — it improves airflow, encourages stronger growth, removes diseased wood, and produces more blooms on flowering varieties. Pruning at the wrong time, or with the wrong cuts, can sacrifice a season of flowers or stress the plant. Our crews know which shrubs respond to hard rejuvenation pruning versus a light shaping, and we work the calendar accordingly.
