Ranallo Residence
The homeowners wanted a landscape that looked connected from every angle front to back and solved the ongoing drainage and grading issues that had affected the property for years. The goal was to create a functional, low-maintenance design that framed the home with fresh plantings and clean, defined lines.
The Design & Planning Process
We began with a 3D landscape design rendering to visualize the full layout including bed placement, walkway positioning, and material selections. The render gave the homeowners a clear sense of how the landscape would flow around the house, with plant groupings and natural stone accents that emphasized the home’s shape. This planning phase allowed us to fine-tune drainage slopes and bed contours before construction began, saving time and ensuring accuracy in the field.
The Final 3D Render
The final render showcased the home surrounded by balanced garden beds and a flowing stone island walkway along the right-hand side, connecting the front entry to the backyard patio.
Grading, Stonework & Planting
We regraded the property so water runs away from the house and into designed drainage zones, then trench-edged the new beds and hand-laid the stone island walkway. Where the side yard dropped away, we built tiered retaining walls with washed stone backfill and drain tile behind the face. Ornamental shrubs, perennials and a premium mulch layer finished the design.
The Transformation
The Ranallo residence now feels balanced and unified, a landscape that wraps seamlessly around the home. The clean edges, lush plantings, and natural stone accents create definition and charm, while the improved grading and irrigation keep everything healthy and functional year-round.
